These Are the First Three Words I Type on Wordle

In my 15 January 2022 blog post, I described my first experience with Wordle, a word game now trending online. The very first word I entered was SNORT. I thought I heard it mentioned on ABC News on January 13 that the word contains four consonants (S, N, R, and T) that are frequently used in English.

I’ve been playing ever since, and I’ve become a bit wiser. Of course, I cannot guarantee that what I am going to tell you is the best strategy, but this is what I do.

When you play Wordle, you may first want to find out all the vowels that are used in the secret word, and at the same time, as many consonants as possible that are in the target word without testing out the same letter twice.

With the following three words, you can swiftly sift through 15 letters of the English alphabet. After SNORT, just type QUICK and BEADY, which allows you to find out which of the six vowel letters (A, E, I, O, U, and Y) and what other consonant letters appear in the hidden word.

You may not be able to uncover all the consonant letters with this method, but it will hopefully help you get there. As you can make six guesses on Wordle, you are still left with three more tries to zero in on the correct answer.

Although I’m sure there would be some better way to tackle this once-a-day word game, this is how I am doing it now (as of 17 January 2022). Enjoy!
