Convenient Inconvenience

昨日(2021年1月27日)気分転換に英語でエッセイを書いてみました。タイトルは「好都合な不都合(Convenient Inconvenience)」です(笑)。

These days I work at a secret location where I cannot use a computer. I work there twice a week, four hours at a time.

At first, I was worried about not being able to respond to emails quickly, check the weather in case it changes, or keep up with the latest news. In other words, I was not happy about being left behind while I was away from the Internet.

However, all my worries evaporated as I got used to this new work routine. As I cannot use a computer while at work, nobody can interrupt me with emails or LINE messages. I should also note here that I don’t own a smartphone. I’ve found out that I can get more things done as I get to work uninterrupted. As a result, I can’t do anything but focus on a task at hand.

In addition, I can achieve mindfulness in my work as nothing can take my mind away, though I do admit that my mind does drift at times.

Having access to too much convenience can be inconvenient. Getting this opportunity to work away from the Internet, though it’s only for eight hours a week, has turned out to be a blessing.
